In This Role

As a Building Maintenance Technician (06 Licensed), you will be part of a cutting-edge technology environment, supporting new test facilities and lab infrastructure projects. This role is highly hands-on and installer-focused, working with racks, servers, low-voltage systems, and building operations equipment. You’ll play a critical part in ensuring that test labs and technical environments run smoothly, safely, and efficiently, while also having exposure to emerging technologies and high-visibility projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and maintain:

    • Network/server racks and cabinets

    • Low-voltage and fiber optic cabling systems

    • Video, sound, and audio systems

    • Telephone and data systems

    • Computer systems integration

  • Perform routine inspections on HVAC, plumbing, and other building systems.

  • Support facility readiness for new labs and equipment deployment, including rack/power/cooling setups.

  • Monitor and respond to safety and security issues in technical environments.

  • Test, evaluate, and recommend new maintenance products, equipment, and solutions.

  • Coordinate deliveries and logistics with vendors and suppliers.

  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and recurring issues.

  • Track and manage inventory of cabling, hardware, tools, and maintenance supplies.

  • Train, mentor, and provide guidance to junior staff when applicable.

  • Operate heavy machinery (e.g., forklift) as needed after proper training.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Washington State Limited Energy 06 License (mandatory requirement).

  • 5–7 years of experience in building maintenance, electrical, or low-voltage systems.

  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience installing/maintaining network and telecommunication equipment.

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to maintain accurate records.

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physically demanding installation and maintenance tasks.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical/trade coursework a plus).

  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Redmond, WA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in general building maintenance and repair beyond low-voltage systems.

  • Familiarity with OSHA and safety compliance standards.

  • Flexibility to respond to after-hours or emergency maintenance needs.

  • Certifications such as:

    • HVAC 06A License

    • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)

    • Certified Manager of Maintenance/Properties (CMM/CMP)

    • Building Operator Certification (BOC)

    • Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) / Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA)

  • Experience with fire alarm and access control systems.

Salary Range

Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market. The pay range for this position reflects geographic based ranges for Washington state: 85,000 to 95,000 USD/ annually. The salary/wage and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
