GENERAL SUMMARY

The HRIS Specialist will be responsible for the effective use, maintenance, and enhancement of our Human Resources Information System (HRIS), supporting the full employee lifecycle. While the primary focus is HRIS management, this role also supports recruitment activities and assists with benefits administration to ensure smooth HR operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

HRIS Management

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the HRIS platform (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Workday, UKG, BambooHR).
  • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring system data integrity across modules (recruiting, onboarding, benefits, performance, etc.).
  • Generate regular and ad hoc HR reports for compliance, metrics, and leadership insights.
  • Oversee user access, security permissions, and routine system audits.
  • Collaborate with IT and HR leadership to implement upgrades, integrations, and system enhancements.
  • Provide HRIS training and day-to-day support to HR staff and managers.

Recruitment Support

  • Support the applicant tracking system (ATS) within the HRIS by ensuring job postings, candidate data, and workflows are accurate.
  • Assist recruiter and hiring manager by maintaining candidate records and updating applicant status.
  • Coordinate interview scheduling, candidate communications, and onboarding data entry.
  • Ensure seamless integration of recruitment activities into HRIS employee records.
  • Provide reporting on recruitment metrics as requested.


 
Benefits Administration

  • Assist with open enrollment, benefits changes, and ongoing audits within the HRIS.
  • Support accurate benefit vendor data feeds and troubleshoot employee issues with benefits access or enrollment.
  • Maintain compliance with benefit regulations (ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.) through accurate recordkeeping.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None 

 FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Position has limited fiscal responsibility. May assist in the collection of data in support of recommendations for departmental budget allocations. 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field 
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience, including managing complex systems.
  • An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, non-verbal).

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Expert level ADP Workforce Now experience.
  • Knowledge of general human resources functionalities.
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • 2-4+ years of HRIS administration experience.
  • Exposure to recruitment workflows and/or applicant tracking systems.
  • Experience supporting benefits processes with an HRIS.

 Skills

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with HR compliance, including recruiting and benefits regulations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

  • HRIS system management, including complex queries and reports.

 

Ability to:

  • Meet schedules and deadlines of the work. Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information and respect professional boundaries.
  • Utilize HRIS systems for project management, creating reports and developing processes, and providing updates and maintenance.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • Will work in a normal office environment. Will sometimes be required to work and/or attend meetings or events in public and at all RideKC locations.
  • Monday through Friday 8am until 5pm.
  • Occasional abnormal hours are expected and required for specific events and to reach all employees.

 TRAVEL   

  • Occasional travel within the metropolitan area may be required.

 WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This position is relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards and is generally sedentary. Incumbents may be required to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
