Description

Basic Functions/Overall Responsibilities:

The Critical Time Transition Program (CTTP) Behavior Support Specialist at the House of the Good Shepherd, in concert with the CTTP Director provides clinical oversight and support to a multidisciplinary team supporting children and youth transitioning from hospital settings to community-based care. This role is grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based, and relationship-centered practices, with a strong emphasis on family engagement, cultural responsiveness, and skill-building.

Principal Assigned Responsibilities:

  1. Design, implement, and continuously improve the CTTP in alignment with New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) regulations and agency policies.
  2. Collaborate with statewide CTTP programs to inform and influence program evolution and best practices.
  3. Provide clinical direction and support to ensure high-quality, evidence-informed care.
  4. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including OMH standards.
  5. Participate in on-call duties as necessary.
  6. Support a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture.
  7. Actively support staff in maintaining a Sanctuary environment that demonstrates the Sanctuary Commitments and is grounded in the philosophy of Trauma Informed Care.
  8. Perform and interpret the results of functional behavior assessments for youth.
  9. Develop and implement interventions that target the reduction of challenging behaviors and increase of adaptive behaviors.
  10. Create and implement individual behavior plans for youth as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  11. Collect, analyze, and present data on target behaviors as part of treatment planning process to inform data-based decision making.
  12. Generalize necessary skills for home or other environments in collaboration with families and other stakeholders.
  13. Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of various behavior management interventions or in-home behavior management systems.
  14. Collaborate in the ongoing development and maintenance of systems to support the practice of applied behavior analysis (e.g., data collection systems).
  15.  Develop, maintain, and update all required documentation for regulatory compliance and in alignment with agency protocols in a timely manner.
  16.  Develop and deliver staff training.
  17.  May act as a mentor to direct care staff.
  18.  Lead projects for various programs designed to elevate the practice of behavior analysis.
  19.  Consult with and provide oversight for implementation of behavior plans.
  20. Serve as a resource to guide team performance.
  21. While this job description covers many aspects of the role, employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
  22.  Other related activities assigned by the CTTP Director.

Qualifications


Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in human services or a related field.
  2. One-year successful human service experience in a behavioral health setting, preferably working with children highly preferred.
  3. Valid and clean NYS driver's license
