McConway & Torley is currently searching for a Melter Helper. As a Melter Helper you will deliver metal to specifications safely, accurately and on time. Keep furnaces full, and safely and thoroughly clean the furnaces and ladles. 

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Shift: 2nd Shift, will train on first. Must be able to work any shift

 

What you’ll do:

  • Assist the melter to deliver metal to specifications
  • Assist the melter with furnace controls/functions 
  • Assist in verifying chemistry results and measuring alloy’s
  • Assist in maintaining furnace through inspection refractory inspection and hot gunning 
  • Assist in maintaining quality standards 
  • Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned

 

What you’ll need:

  • 1 year relevant experience in foundry or heavy industry
  • Must be a team player and safety oriented
  • Must have predictable attendance
  • High school degree or GED is required. Must pass melter training to become certified melter.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
  • This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
  • Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant

  • Be aware of and observe all safety practices. Including but not limited to- Safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc… as required
  • Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
