Queer Space Members (Positions Below)
Queer Space is dedicated to organizing events that educate the student body and broader community on issues related to queer identity, gender diversity, and sexual/romantic orientation. The committee is committed to advocating for and creating inclusive spaces for LGBTQ2S+ communities at Queen’s University, recognizing the complex and intersecting nature of gender and gender-based oppression. Through a variety of initiatives, including panels, training sessions, forums, and creative workshops, Queer Space collaborates with other social justice groups on campus to foster a more inclusive environment. Our goal is not only to raise awareness of the challenges faced by LGBTQ2S+ individuals but also to provide a supportive community for people of all sexual/romantic orientations and gender identities within the Society.

Time Commitment
8 month-term from September 2025 to April 30th, 2026 with a time commitment of 3-4 hours/week.

Role and Responsibilities:
Financial Advisor
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records and budgeting for Queer Space.
- Collaborate with the Events Coordinator to develop detailed budgets for each event.
- Ensure that all financial practices align with the organization’s goals and available resources.
Social Media Coordinator
- Develop and post regular updates about Queer Space events, collaborations, and monthly highlights on social media platforms.
- Engage with the community online to promote Queer Space's mission and activities.
- Monitor and analyze social media performance to optimize outreach and engagement.
Events Coordinator
- Plan, organize, and execute events for Queer Space in collaboration with the team.
- Coordinate logistics for panels, training sessions, forums, and workshops, ensuring they align with Queer Space’s mission.
- Work with other social justice groups on campus to co-host events and broaden the impact of Queer Space initiatives.
Equity Advisor
- Ensures our events, content, and spaces are inclusive, accessible, and reflective of the diverse identities within the queer community.
- Advocate for marginalized voices, provide insight on inclusivity, and help the team approach things through an anti-oppressive lens.
