- Summary:
- The position provides support to children experiencing emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges and concerns. Utilizing various techniques, facilitate the creation of a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where children can express themselves, explore and identify their emotions, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct initial assessments to identify children's needs, strengths, and areas for growth
- Develop action plans in collaboration with the Disabilities Manager, Behavioral Health Specialist and Child Wellbeing Specialist, focusing on therapeutic goals and objectives
- Maintain accurate and through records, including sessions notes, action plans, and progress reports
- Routinely review and update action plan goals based on documented progress and feedback from Disabilities Manager, Behavioral Health Specialist and Child Wellbeing Specialist
- Participate in team meetings and communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, guardians, and other members of the behavioral support team to ensure continuity of care and action plan fidelity
- Collaborate with contracted Psychologist to integrate beneficial techniques into action plan
- Remain informed about current trends, research, and best practices related to therapeutic play and child development. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance relevant skills and knowledge
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Other duties as assigned
- Adhere to all CDC policies and procedures as set forth in the policy manual.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with children on their level through behavioral escalation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to ethical and professional standards in the behavioral health field
- Preferred previous experience working with children in the behavioral health or educational setting
- Excellent computer skills
- Proper attendance is required. Employees are expected to arrive on time, every day, able and available to work.
- May require travel to other centers
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Lifting and carrying of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds
