The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for evaluating, designing, and optimizing business processes across multiple functional areas, ensuring that enterprise systems and applications support institutional effectiveness. The Analyst acts as a liaison between end-users, IT, and university leadership to translate business needs into technical solutions, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen decision-making through data analysis. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills to guide projects that directly impact student success, faculty support, and administrative excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, and implement business processes and system workflows to support university priorities.
  • Partner with academic and administrative leaders to assess current systems, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure business systems align with institutional strategy and compliance requirements (accreditation, FERPA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of enterprise applications.
  • Facilitate communication between technical staff, functional stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Recommend innovative technology solutions to improve efficiency, data accuracy, and user experience.
  • Provide advanced reporting, dashboards, and analytics to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across enterprise systems.
  • Partner with Institutional Research and IT to enhance data governance practices.
  • Serve as a consultant to departments on technology adoption and process improvement.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in business systems analysis, IT project management, or enterprise applications, preferably in higher education.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
