The Harris-Stowe State University Coordinator of Athletic Eligibility, Compliance, and Campus Activities will monitor and facilitate academic eligibility and progress towards degree for all student athletes. The will include overseeing enrollment status, percentage of degree credits, designation of majors and minors, class registration, and NAIA eligibility status. The position will work closely with the Faculty Athletic Representative, Registrar, advisors, coaches, and staff to support and enhance the academic experience of all student athletes. The position will assist with oversight of Champions of Character initiatives. 

In addition, duties include, but are not limited to: planning, programming, directing, supervising, and implementing the requirements of a diversified and progressive collegiate intramural and recreational program. 

*Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors the academic eligibility and progress towards degree of all student-athletes including full-time enrollment, percentage of degree credits, designation of majors and minors, and class registration.
  • Maintains institutional control of the compliance system for the University’s athletic program.
  • Develops procedures and policies to monitor and ensure compliance with all NAIA and conference rules and regulations.
  • Verifies student eligibility to participate in university athletics.
  • Assist with investigating and reviews alleged NAIA and conference rule violations and communicates findings to the appropriate parties as a liaison between the athletic program and the NAIA.
  • Work closely with admissions, academic advising, and registrar
  • Coordinate the NAIA Champions of Character initiative
  • Develop and implement all community engagement efforts involving student-athletes, coaches and administration
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive intramural and campus wellness program to serve the HSSU campus community
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Athletic Director
  • Promote philosophy of the athletic department and Harris-Stowe State University

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree; Masters degree preferred. 
  • 2 to 3 years of working experience with NAIA academic eligibility either as a collegiate coach, and/or athletic staff eligibility personnel OR equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of college athletics and demands of student athlete
  • Ability to handle extremely confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and make value judgements
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and under time sensitive deadlines, often with numerous interruptions.
  • Demonstrate strong computer, organizational, verbal and written
