Description
College Living Experience (CLE) in Monterey, CA is looking for two compassionate part-time Social Coaches to join our team. A Social coach who enjoys hiking, the outdoors and connecting through nature. In this role, you’ll work directly with our students, supporting them as they grow and develop in the social aspects of independent living. We’re looking for someone with a flexible schedule who can commit to 25-29 hours per week. Must be available at least one weekend day, Saturday or Sunday. This position requires regular travel between worksites. A reliable means of transportation is necessary. This is more than just a job, it’s a chance to truly make a difference. CLE is a comprehensive transitional support program for young adults diagnosed with Autism, AD/HD, and/or learning disabilities. Our students are working towards living independent adult lives and they wouldn’t be able to meet this goal without the support of individuals like you.

Though we come together to support our students, we also prioritize staff development as a part of our core commitments. We provide regular opportunities to learn from each other and engage in conversations about best practices and individualized approaches to learning.

We operate in four different domains (academic, career development, social skills, and independent living), but we engage in regular communication, problem solving, brainstorming, and cross-curricular planning. We are dedicated to building an inclusive team that sustains a welcoming community for sharing our diverse perspectives and strengths.
As a Social Coaching you will:
Coach student’s social lives but have the professional background to recognize problem areas and implement strategies to support social development. The coach/student relationship is low-key, friendly, and fun. Coaches aid in the process of learning how to navigate the world by encouraging real-world experiences. The coaches’ initial role is to build rapport. But thereafter, it’s teaching the student about how to engage reciprocally with other people. In addition, there may be opportunities to co-lead psycho-educational and social skills groups.
- Social coaching sessions, typically, on a weekly basis for an hour
- Writing summary notes by the end of the day
- Communicating issues of concern to the Director
- Attending a weekly, one-hour group or individual supervision meeting with the Director
- Navigating the community with students in order to help them apply the skills they are developing through our program
- Facilitating social skills groups and/or activities in person
- Driving students to and from events
Requirements
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, preferred
- Special Education: 1 year (Preferred)

Pay: $19-23 per hour
