About the role 

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the overall integrity and reporting of the financial information to internal and external users to meet reporting deadlines and ensures that effective accounting controls and procedures are in place and provides assistance to the Assistant Controller as needed.   


What you’ll be doing 
 

Financial Planning and Analysis 

  • Oversees the effective operation of all aspects of the Accounting function; 
  • Ensures the accuracy of all information from Great Plains and provided in reports; 
  • Prepares entries for month end, including inventory adjustments, commission entries and unearned adjustments; 
  • Reviews monthly financial statements within 6 business days of each month; 
  • Aids in preparation monthly and quarterly performance packages for management;  
  • Provides ad hoc reports and analysis on an ongoing basis as required, directed by Assistant Controller 
  • Verifies that Computacenter receives all revenue and benefits that are earned including rebates, benefit payments associated with manufacturers as well as amount of Coop funds earned; 
  • Maintains a strong internal control environment; 
  • Identifies and implements process improvements (opportunities for cost savings); 
  • Responsible for day to day interactions with the bank  

Budgeting/Forecasting/Planning  

  • Aid in the planning and forecasting process where required 

Annual Review 

  • Interfaces with the external accountants; 
  • Ensures that external review and tax returns are completed in time to meet government reporting deadlines; 
  • Maintains files of financial statements and tax returns by year. 

Professional Services  

  • Review and approve new vendor setup, point of contact with major vendor on credit limit. 
  • Lead international transactions, cross company margin transfer and interco company balance reconciliation. 
  • Review journal entries and reconcile on a regular basis all G/L accounts. 
  • Daily Bank/Cash management, weekly cashflow projection, uploading ACH and wire payments, liaison with bank on enquires. 
  • Review and calculate rebate 
  • Ensures that PS Utilization reports are prepared and distributed on a regular basis; 
  • Sets up work orders for PS orders received and ensure that the costing sheets for the project and executed Task Authorizations (TAs) for subcontractors are in place;   
  • Provides project code to PS Manager to initiate work on the project.  Sets up project code in timesheet system, file on server is created and all spreadsheets are updated;   
  • Assists the Assistant Controller with profitability reports to be completed monthly; 
  • Ensures that PS is invoiced within 24 hours of receiving signoff sheets. 

Payroll and Benefits  

  • Preparation and review of bi-weekly payroll for the company.  Ensures appropriate backup for all payroll changes;  
  • Calculates commissions for Account Managers and subsequent reporting; 
  • Ensures that all government remittances are accurate and paid on time (UIC, CPP, Taxes, WSIB, EHT); 
  • Ensures that annual reports are submitted on time  
  • Reviews T4s annually for all employees and ensures that company package is submitted to CRA on time; 
  • Completes T2200s for employees where required; 


What you have  

  • A minimum of five years of Senior Accountant experience.  
  • Ability to perform under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced changing environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada. 


Bonus points 

  • Knowledge of Great Plains and SAP are highly desirable 
  • Strong accounting and analytical experience 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Experience w/ service billings an asset.
