Job Summary:
The Regional Sr. Underwriter for Natural Resources will play a pivotal role in supporting the Regional Natural Resources Head in overseeing and expanding operations within the Power Generation and Energy sectors across Latin America and the Caribbean. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, Technical UW experience, capable of driving growth and ensuring operational excellence in alignment with the company’s sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment:
- Approve or decline referrals within assigned authority limits and recommend decisions for cases exceeding authority levels.
- Collaborate with regional and country management to develop and refine underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Implementing regional strategies for the Natural Resources sector, focusing on Power Generation and Renewable Energy.
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and partnerships to expand the company’s footprint in the region.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize resource allocation and project execution.
- Team Leadership and Practice Development:
- Establish and strengthen relationships with brokers, insurance industry, business partners, re insurers and colleagues, to maximise influence and achieve business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other lines of business.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the Natural Resources sector, with a focus on Power Generation, Energy, and Renewable Energy.
- Proven track record in a managerial role with experience in Latin America.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory environment and market dynamics in the region.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish; Portuguese is a plus.
- Willingness to travel within the region as required.
