Your impact at MUFG 

As an Associate / Relationship Manager GCIB, you will be a member of the front office team. Your main role will be to pro-actively contribute in the management of customer relationships, responding to customer enquiries, monitoring and supporting associated tasks and activities. Frequent interaction with various types of clients, onsite visits, bankers meetings, conferences and seminars. You will be working with many internal and external stakeholders on high-profile transactions in EMEA and across the world. GCIB team focuses on managing all different Product Partners (e.g. Capital Markets, Structured Finance, and Transaction Banking) and regional / local relationship managers across the MUFG network globally. You will also have the possibility to have full relationship management responsibility for a portfolio of your clients. 

 

Function positioning 

The function is part of the Global Corporate Investment Banking division, and it manages the GCIB corporates in Spain & Portugal (including inbound clients). This section supports MUFG and its strategy to become a core bank to Investment Grade and Non-Investment Grade Corporate Clients in Europe by increasing the customer base and developing ancillary business, enhancing net operating profit and return.  

  

Credit analysis on GCIB clients is conducted with the help of dedicated Credit Analysis Department. GCIB Spain & Portugal team defines the strategy (in consultation and in line with GCIB EMEA) and selects the prospect names which fit the on boarding criteria of GCIB. The profit target is determined in cooperation with the planning department and Head of Corporate Banking GCIB EMEA. 

 

The role includes the following: 

  • Support Senior Bankers in all aspects of group client management, including business development, pipeline reporting, operational aspects, fee and asset, other internal reporting and marketing activities.  

  • Working closely with Credit, Risk and Compliance teams to collect required legal documents and meet all regulatory and internal policies. 

  • Act as a subject matter expert in know your customer and required legal documents. 

  • Provide input into pre- screenings, application preparation and submission process: Business rationale, Returns, facility structure, and more.  

  • Assist in execution of transactions, including facility documentation review.  

  • Prepare presentations and pitches.  

  • Support MUFG’s ESG / Sustainable Financing objectives. 

  • Assist in marketing the MUFG Global Network to our clients, when working with our network offices in 50 countries. 

  • Ensure all control requirements are fully complied with on a timely basis: for example, CRM Tool, KYC, Compliance, monthly follow-up sheets, covenants monitoring, application due date control, outstanding conditions and instructions etc.  

  • Ensure compliance with the Bank’s rules, policies, procedures and guidelines together with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements. 

 

 

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following: 

Skills and experience: 

  • Intellectual and working background at University degree level (Business Administration / Economics / Law / Engineering education). Specialized masters will also be valued. 

  • The function requires experience in a similar function or relevant area for at least 3 years. 

  • Knowledge of the (intra-)departmental workflows and processes, of the products offered by our Front Office and of the applicable internal and external legislation.  

  • Knowledge and understanding/experience of/with the bank's credit and market risk business, policies, rules and guidelines.  

  • Knowledge of and experience with automated database storage and processing and desktop IT skills.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish is essential, Portuguese and Italian will also be valued. 

  • Keep knowledge and skills up-to-date by reading internal bulletins and by external or internal education.
