Trainee Rigger Training Programme

Have you worked in a lifting team for at least 2 years? 


Would you like to be employed as a Trainee Rigger?  


Opportunity: Employment as a trainee rigger with study towards the ECITB L3 Diploma in Engineering Construction Lifting Positioning and Installing Structures, Plant and Equipment.  


Commitment: 6 weeks off the job training (employed) followed by up to 24 months on site experience & skills development to complete the qualification 


Eligibility:  


Min 2 years onsite working with a lifting team (experience onsite at HPC preferred) 
CCNSG (or the ability to complete during the initial training period) 
English and maths skills at a level suitable to complete a Level 3 Diploma  


When: Nov 2025 (Start date TBC) 


Location: Tipton (West Midlands) / Cannington (Mechanical Centre of Excellence) for 6 weeks before deployment to HPC site.  Training locations will be confirmed in advance of start. Travel and accommodation costs paid in line with HPC Site Agreements.  


Employment: With an MEH phase contractor at HPC.  


Salary: Basic salary from day one of training circa £39,796 (ESCA Grade 2) with the potential to increase after 12 months (on successful completion of training milestones).

Candidates will be shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria above and invited to an assessment day (assessments will include maths / English levels) and interview at Cannington (Mechanical Centre of Excellence) in October.   Eight candidates will be selected to start as employed Trainee Riggers in November 2025.
