Pre-School Teacher, FT at Carmel Catholic High School

Job Summary:
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate multi-age learning environment for children who are three and four years old. The teacher plans and implements lessons that promote academic, social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development, fosters curiosity, and builds foundational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with PEL

• Prior experience in a preschool or early childhood setting

• Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Ability to pass criminal background check, including fingerprinting, and become Virtus compliant

• Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement daily lesson plans, including Handwriting Without Tears, aligned with early childhood standards and best practices

• Create a warm, welcoming classroom environment that supports diverse learners and promotes independence and exploration

• Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues

• Manage classroom behavior in a respectful, age-appropriate manner

• Monitor, observe, and document student progress; communicate regularly with families

• Collaborate with instructional aides to maintain a consistent and engaging routine

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students through active supervision and adherence to health and safety guidelines

• Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events 

• Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization

• Uphold the mission and values of the school
