WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Vice President of Bolthouse Marketing will own brand strategy and brand equity, innovation, and communications for the $500M beverage and dressing brand. Someone successful in this role will be able to flex between general manager conversations – understanding how to drive the business at all levels of a P&L – and brand equity conversations. This role will lead our turnaround strategy to reinvent smoothies. A prime candidate will have past responsibility owning both base and equity of mid-to-large size brand(s), past success in brand reinvention, be comfortable making quick decisions in ambiguity, and will be able to rally the organization behind a vision.
The Vice President will bring experience leading and developing high-performing Marketing teams. They will also have a proven track record of strong cross functional collaboration and leading effective integrated agency teams. This position will be remote with up to 50% travel between our Chicago hub, our R&D facility in Bakersfield, key customer visits, and other as needed for job.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The job requirements include, but are not limited to the following:
- Brand Results: Owns Bolthouse beverage and salad dressing performance – financial, consumption, and equity. Responsible with team for analyzing results, building action plans, and executing in market to achieve top and bottom-line goals.
- Brand Strategy: Ultimate owner of how the Bolthouse brand shows up to consumer – product and package. Architect a long-term business strategy for Bolthouse across beverage and sala dressing that incorporates an up-to-date understanding of the market landscape, competitive industry insights, and consumer trends. Define and formalize brand foundations for Bolthouse Farms, including brand vision, brand purpose, and brand voice.
- Innovation and Renovation: Build and bring to life multi-year innovation/renovation pipeline for Bolthouse brand in partnership with Disruptive Innovation and R&D team. Evolve the current Bolthouse product line to best meet consumer and retailers’ needs.
- Communications: Leads Bolthouse marketing team responsible for creating and effectively deploying creative that drives business results. Owns multi-million dollar A&C budget across shopper, media, research, packaging, etc. Managing all aspects of marketing planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- General Management: Drive business decisions with data-backed recommendations. Responsible for directing significant portions of the Bolthouse P&L and influencing top- and bottom-line levers to materially drive revenue and EBITDA growth.
- Creativity: Drive the culture of creativity by being connected to culture, consumers, and trends. Comfortable with calculated risk that enable speed-to-market.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA/Masters preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of brand management experience
- Experience leading through the full innovation cycle from ideation to commercialization
- Experience leading multi-million dollar communication plans from agency briefing to production and from shopper to social.
- Experience leading media, creative, and shopper agencies or in-house teams and managing the associated budget.
- 5+ years of direct P&L ownership experience with history driving both top and bottom line growth
- Deep understanding of finding insights and driving action based on syndicated (sales and panel) and custom (qual and quant) consumer data
- Experience leading 3+ person teams with track record of team development and retention.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience at mid-size or start-up company (<$1B topline)
- Prior success turning around a mature brand
- Experience leading a brand or portfolio that competes in more than one category
- Experience partnering with Sales to present in high-stakes customer meetings
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:
- Up to 50% travel to Chicago hub and Bakersfield plant for internal meetings, as well as various other US cities for customer meetings and/or consumer work.
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
- 1st shift (8am – 5pm), Monday through Friday, when business requires overtime and weekends will be mandatory
