Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist with an active Secret clearance to join our analytics and AI/ML team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data engineering, and will work on high-impact projects supporting national security, defense, or federal civilian agencies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, and mission stakeholders, to design, implement, and deploy advanced analytical solutions.

Responsibilities:
Design, build, and deploy machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions for mission-critical systems
Work with structured and unstructured datasets from diverse sources to extract actionable insights
Lead data science projects from discovery through deployment, including presenting findings to stakeholders
Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts in Python or R, and productionize models in collaboration with engineering teams
Apply NLP, computer vision, or time series modeling techniques where applicable
Ensure all work adheres to security, privacy, and clearance-level data handling protocols
Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to team knowledge sharing
Basic Qualifications:
- Active Secret clearance (DoD); must be eligible for TS/SCI if required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, etc.) or R
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and MLOps pipelines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to classified or secure data workflows
- Experience with deep learning, NLP (e.g., BERT, LLMs), geospatial analysis, or time-series forecasting
- Agile or DevSecOps project experience
