Being a Veterinary Assisntant in a veterinary office takes a special kind of person who is able to deal with both humans and animals alike. As a veterinary assistant your primary responsibility is to be efficient in standard of pet care. VA's are invaluable members of our hospital team, and we treat them that way. Come thrive in an environment that encourages learning and continued grow within the profession and become the bridge between pet owners and patient care. Salary is $17-19/hour, DOE.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist doctors and technicians with patient procedures and surgeries, pre and post operative patient care, surgical suite, instrument, and equipment care
  • Support veterinarians to ensure exceptional veterinary care during preventative, injury and illness visits
  • Animal handling and restraint
  • Obtain health history from clients and ensure documentation is accurate and complete within the electronic medical record
  • Assist with patient procedures and surgeries, including anesthetic induction and monitoring, pre and post operative patient care, surgical suite, instrument, and equipment care
  • Restock and organize medical supplies

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1 years’ experience in veterinary practice (or human medical practice) preferred
  • Computer experience (email usage, word/excel) and proficiency required
  • Superior technical knowledge and skills
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and team members
  • Proficient time management, ability to problem solve, learn, and handle multiple tasks
  • Enthusiastic team player with a patient, and positive professional attitude.
  • Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds and work on feet most of the day.
