Position Summary:
Atherton Elementary School is seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Paraprofessional to provide support to kindergarten students with behavioral and social-emotional needs. The successful candidate will work directly with students and classroom staff to promote a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment that fosters academic and social growth.
Qualifications:
Must have demonstrated proficiency either through college coursework (60 credit hours) or Workkeys test to be highly qualified for the classroom
Previous experience working with young children or in a school setting strongly preferred.
Training or experience in behavior management strategies is desirable.
Ability to remain calm and consistent when addressing challenging behaviors.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students exhibiting behavioral challenges.
Implement behavior intervention strategies under the guidance of the classroom teacher, behavior specialist, social worker and/or special education team.
Assist with the development and reinforcement of social skills and positive behavior.
Support classroom management by redirecting behavior, reinforcing expectations, and modeling appropriate interactions.
Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and administrators to monitor student progress.
Assist students with academic tasks, daily routines, and transitions as needed.
Document and report student progress, incidents, and concerns.
Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the educational and behavioral success of students.
Salary: $15.00 per hour
