Key Responsibilities

Our modelling team develops and maintains the energy models that power Aurora’s subscription analytics, advisory services, and software tools—used by leading energy companies and investors around the world.
  • Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, contributing to the continuous improvement of Aurora’s models. You’ll help design and implement scalable, maintainable code, champion modern software engineering practices, and play a key role in delivering high-quality, data-driven insights.
  • We’re looking for individuals with strong technical capabilities, proven reliability, and a track record of leadership in team-based settings.
If you’re a recent graduate joining the Oxford modelling team, your first year will include:
  • Rigorous training in our modelling methodologies and energy markets
  • Hands-on contributions to some of the most sophisticated energy market models in the industry
  • Direct involvement in live client projects as a technical modelling expert

What We Look For

We look for candidates who demonstrate the following qualities in their applications:
  • A strong academic background in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Economics
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and analytical thinking ability
  • The ability to gather, interpret, and work with complex quantitative data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g. Python [preferred], C++, MATLAB, R, or Java)
Desirable attributes:
  • A relevant Master’s degree or PhD
  • Strong interest in energy markets and a belief in the value of well-designed models to support better decision-making
  • Advanced proficiency in Python programming
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and/or mathematical optimisation techniques
This role is based in the UK and so the successful candidate will need to have, or be able to secure and maintain appropriate right to work in the UK in the role. Under the current applicable immigration rules our Graduate Analyst roles are usually not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
