About the Job:
The Mobile Component Rebuild Mechanic will report to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of mobile mining equipment components used in both surface and underground operations. The schedule for this position is 14 days on at the mine site located approximately 45 miles north of Juneau, accessible only via company transportation, and 14 days off.
Responsibilities:
Safety and Compliance
- Stop work for safety concerns, and abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of work areas and equipment.
- Comply with all company policies including attendance, safety, environmental, and HR policies.
- Understand and adhere to Environment, Health, Safety, and Social Responsibility policies and laws.
- Protect the environment and ensure personal and team safety.
Maintenance and Repair
- Maintain and repair surface and/or underground mobile mining equipment such as drills, bolters, loaders, haul trucks, and heavy/light-duty support equipment.
- Rebuild components including:
- Differentials
- Transmissions
- Torque converters
- Brake packs
- Drill drifters
- Accumulators
- Flushing heads
- Bolter turrets
- Perform proper troubleshooting and repairs to maintain equipment availability.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components of mobile mining equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gas engines.
- Perform intermediate welding and fabrication.
- Conduct in-depth preventive maintenance (PMs) to identify and resolve issues before equipment failure.
Documentation and Communication
- Accurately enter labor hours and service notes into work orders daily.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and rebuild activities.
- Communicate equipment status and repair needs with supervisors and team members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Monitor equipment performance and report anomalies promptly.
- Order necessary repair parts and manage component rebuild inventory.
- Assist in training new technicians on standard procedures and safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to work safely and promote safe behavior in others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Excellent safety, attendance, and work records.
- Certification or degree in Heavy Equipment Mechanical Maintenance from a vocational tech school or equivalent work experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and rebuild skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use specialized tooling in the repair and rebuilding of components.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and other technical publications required for component rebuilds.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Must have own hand tools.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) with all mine site personnel.
- Sets high standards for self and others, builds trust, and takes accountability.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- 5 years of Underground Sandvik mining equipment repair.
- Preference given to Alaska residents.
