Job Summary:


The Wheel Technician will have experience in inspecting, repairing, and refurbishing automotive wheels, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety. As a Wheel Technician, you will be responsible for performing wheel repairs, balancing, refinishing, and other maintenance tasks related to wheel and tire assemblies.


Key Responsibilities:

Wheel Inspection & Diagnosis: Inspect wheels for damage, defects, or wear, including cracks, bends, and corrosion. Accurately diagnose issues and determine appropriate repair or replacement options.

Wheel Repair: Perform wheel repairs such as straightening bent rims, welding cracks, resurfacing, and refinishing using industry-standard tools and techniques.

Wheel Balancing: Mount, balance, and align wheels with tires to ensure proper performance and smooth operation. Use computerized balancing equipment to achieve accurate results.

Wheel Refurbishment: Refurbish wheels by repairing cosmetic damage, re-coating, and refinishing wheels to restore their appearance to like-new condition.

Tire Mounting & Dismounting: Mount and dismount tires from wheels, ensuring proper installation to prevent damage and maintain vehicle safety.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety procedures and standards to ensure the safe handling of wheels, tires, and repair equipment. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, offering expert advice on wheel and tire repairs or replacements. Communicate effectively with customers and team members about wheel-related issues and solutions.

Inventory Management: Assist in managing wheel and tire inventory, ensuring proper storage and organization of parts and materials.

Quality Control: Ensure that all wheel repair and refurbishing work meets quality standards and manufacturer specifications. Perform final inspections on repaired or refurbished wheels before returning them to customers.


Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in wheel and tire repair or automotive technology is a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a wheel technician or in a similar automotive repair or maintenance role.

Technical Skills: 

Proficient in the use of wheel repair tools and equipment, including wheel straighteners, tire mounting machines, and balancing machines.

Knowledge of different wheel materials (steel, aluminum, alloy) and their specific repair needs.

Ability to read and understand technical specifications and repair manuals.

Problem Solving: Strong ability to diagnose issues with wheels and tires and apply appropriate solutions.

Attention to Detail: High level of precision and care when inspecting, repairing, and refurbishing wheels.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy wheels and tires, stand for long periods, and work in a variety of automotive environments.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and team members. Ability to explain complex technical issues in simple terms.

Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

Certification or formal training in wheel and tire repair (e.g., ASE certification, or specialized wheel technician training).

Experience working with high-end or specialty wheels (e.g., chrome, custom rims, etc.).

Knowledge of tire repair and maintenance, including balancing and alignment systems.

Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations regarding wheel repair.

Work Environment: This position will require working in a workshop or service center environment with exposure to automotive tools, equipment, and materials.

Physical Demands: This job requires the ability to lift heavy equipment, bend, and kneel 


The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States and hold a current/valid driver's license.
