We’re seeking a Traffic Engineer- Project Manager with a minimum of 12 years of experience in transportation engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience in project management to join our growing traffic team in New York City. We’re a close-knit team of about 50 professionals, known for our collaborative spirit and strong relationships—both internally and with our clients. We foster a culture built on flexibility, accountability, and camaraderie, and we take pride in the supportive, engaging environment we’ve cultivated. Your Opportunity

As a key member of our team, you’ll lead and support a variety of transportation projects that make a real impact:

  • Lead transportation planning studies, traffic impact analyses, and safety assessments
  • Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies
  • Design and oversee traffic data collection and analysis
  • Collaborate with roadway and structural engineers on iterative design processes
  • Ensure quality and consistency through QA/QC reviews
  • Manage project budgets and client communications
  • Present technical concepts at public meetings and support stakeholder engagement
  • Coordinate modeling efforts and integrate results into planning recommendations
  • Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and presentations
  • Support business development through proposal writing and interviews

Qualifications

About You

You’re passionate about creating safe, efficient, and equitable transportation systems. You bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • PE license (preferably in NY, NJ, or CT); PTOE and/or RSP certifications are a plus
  • Strong understanding of transportation planning and traffic engineering principles
  • Familiarity with NEPA guidelines and regional standards (NY, NJ, CT)
  • Proficiency in Synchro, HCS, and standard business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator is a bonus
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for diverse audiences
  • Proven leadership and ability to manage interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
