Job Summary

BASIC FUNCTION/DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the Director of MOT and Associate Superintendent of Business Services, the School Bus & Vehicle Mechanic Lead oversees, inspects, expedites, leads, and participates in the maintenance and repair of the District’s diesel, electric and gasoline school buses and vehicular equipment; oversee shop, perform Journey-level mechanic duties, and maintain accurate and correct records of all vehicular maintenance performed to meet District, State, and federal requirements; train and provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel; responsible for planning, scheduling, assigning, estimating, coordinating, and prioritizing work; ensure all assignments are completed in a safe, proper, and timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and Skills Required: Principles of training, work direction, and team leadership. Methods and techniques of organization and supervision. Laws and regulations governing maintenance, adjustment, and repair of heavy-duty automotive equipment. Maintenance and repair techniques for heavy and light vehicles, including grounds maintenance equipment. Operation, theory, and principles of gasoline, electric, diesel, and battery-powered equipment. Tools, equipment, materials, and terminology used in vehicle and equipment repair. Vehicle and equipment diagnostic procedures. Analog and digital electronic systems installed in vehicles. Preventive maintenance principles and practices. Proper storage and handling of equipment, materials, and supplies. Shop math relevant to mechanical trades. Health and safety regulations and proper lifting techniques. Record-keeping and filing methods. Effective interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Oral and written communication skills, including correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. Telephone etiquette and professional communication. Requirements / Qualifications

-- Desirable: Bilingual. Equivalent to completion of 10th grade. -- Required: Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver’s License with all unrestricted endorsements (must maintain). Fingerprints and TB are required upon initial employment. REQUIRED WITH EDJOIN APPLICATION: -- Three professional/supervisory references.

Salary Info

Range 46 ($53.25 - $55.46 per hour, depending on similar experience)
