The Department of Interactive Media at Bradley University seeks a dynamic individual to join our award-winning and nationally ranked department as a Computer Graphics (CG) Engineer on a government awarded subcontract. U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
This position is a non-exempt (hourly) position, working a minimum of 30 hours per week and is 100% externally funded, subject to external funding for a maximum of 3 years. Incumbent may work remotely.
The successful candidate will have at least 2 years professional development experience. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing 3D applications using technologies such as, OpenGL, Vulcan, CGAL, ROS, and 3d computer graphics API's such as Blender and Unity. Your expertise in Python and C/C++ will be crucial in developing graphics tools for the project.
A successful candidate should possess experience in:
- Creating 3D models for integration into a rendered environment.
- Knowledge of render engines and shader algorithms
- Recommending strategies and developing features/capabilities for new rendering pipelines and mesh.
- Code management through GIT and utilization of GitHub
- Industry standard programming languages such as C, C++, Python, XML
- Command Line usage of Linux and Windows Operating Systems
- Usage of IDE such as Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code
- Familiarity with mathematical principles underlying computer graphics algorithms such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Numerical Analysis.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Working closely with a small team to design, code, review, and test software features optimized for use on laptop and desktop platforms
- Monitoring scientific literature for innovations that can be adapted for our use cases
The candidate must have a deep understanding of geometric surface definitions for polygonal surfaces, parametric surfaces, implicit surfaces, and point clouds. Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines, strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent presentation skills are also desired.
Appointment requires a bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Game Design, Game Art or a relevant technical field, or equivalent years of experience and evidence of successful production experience in creative works and/or industry. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
