We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in WJ South. The successful candidate will provide commercial support managing commercial aspects across a variety of Clients and contract types. Ideally you will have a background in highways contracting or similar. You will provide support on a range of projects, ensuring effective cost management, accurate forecasting, and strong contractual control.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop within the UK market leading road marking and highways safety business, contributing to the successful delivery of essential highways schemes, local authority and private sectors across the UK.
Job Description:What you’ll do
- Preparation and submission of estimates and tender costings.
- Measurement and valuation of main and subcontract works (including take-offs).
- Drafting, negotiating, and administering subcontract agreements, including procurement and payments.
- Preparation, submission, and agreement of interim and final accounts with full supporting documentation.
- Accurate commercial forecasting, including CVRs, margins, and financial reports.
- Identification, valuation, and agreement of variations, compensation events, and claims.
- Advising project teams on commercial and contractual matters, ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Supporting risk management and mitigation across projects.
- Driving continuous improvement and best practice in commercial processes.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience as QS ideally with highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- RICS membership is an advantage however training can be given.
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (essential).
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work confidently with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Preferred degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management.
- Proficient in MS Office and relevant commercial management software.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
