Position Title: PROJECT ENGINEER
Location: HOUSTON, TX (CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS)
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: HEAD OF PROJECT ENGINEERING
Position Summary: The Project Engineer will have a technical background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering to support the execution of power plant development projects. This role will be responsible for managing project delivery, coordinating with construction partners, and overseeing vendors—particularly those supplying electrical equipment, engines, and gas turbines. The candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage engineering and construction activities for natural gas engine and turbine–based power plants.
- Oversee and coordinate with electrical vendors, mechanical equipment suppliers, and EPC contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Support procurement efforts by evaluating vendor proposals, equipment specifications, and delivery schedules.
- Provide on-site support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Track project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, reporting progress to leadership and clients.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify and resolve technical or logistical issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors.
Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3–7 years of experience in project engineering, ideally within power generation, utilities, or industrial construction.
- Strong knowledge of power plant equipment (natural gas engines, turbines, switchgear, transformers, balance-of-plant systems).
- Familiarity with EPC project delivery, vendor management, and construction practices.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex projects.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with turbomachinery, rotating equipment, or distributed power systems.
- Knowledge of permitting, codes, and standards relevant to power generation.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is an asset.
