About The Role 

The Junior Researcher will provide support to Scientists in their corresponding group for ongoing plasma physics related endeavors. Additional duties will include experimental design and execution, results communication, and participation in fusion machine operations, or code development to implement physics models or analyses.

Role and Responsibilities

• This is an entry level position supporting plasma fusion research in the experimental program of the Fusion Division.
• Be part of the Applied Physics, Experimental Systems, Computational, Theory and R&D groups.
• All Junior Researchers will also actively participate in the Fusion Division by designing and performing experiments, performing data analysis, occasional machine operation time, or development of code or models.  They will communicate scientific results both in small groups and the fusion department at large
• Job responsibilities will be about 50% BTS Operations, 20% C-2W Operations, and 30% project work with other related work units, as appropriate for the skill sets and interests of the Jr. Researcher, as well as the needs of TAE.

About You

• Hands-on laboratory work and/or software development (> 1 year).
• Experience in areas such as plasma diagnostics, computational plasma physics, scientific data analysis, high voltage equipment, and high-performance computing.
• Time management to execute successful completion of tasks and projects.
• Ability to collaborate with team members
• Scientific analysis using Python.
• Optional: IDL, MATLAB, SQL, MDS

Education

B.S Physics or Engineering Discipline

At TAE Technologies, we consider a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and job-related knowledge, training; licenses and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements depending on the position offered (non-Sr., Sr., Lead or Manager). The compensation range for these roles are $35.00 an hour.
