Job Description:
Airbus is seeking an Export Control Lead for its South Asia Legal & Compliance team based in Bangalore, India. This position reports to the Head of Legal and Compliance, South Asia and is part of the export control organisation at Airbus. The role's primary objective is to provide legal support and guidance on export control and related regulations for all Airbus businesses and functions in the region.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a senior resource with at least 10 years of professional experience and a minimum of 8 years specifically in export control. The role requires a strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to find solutions in a complex, constantly evolving environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
Providing expert export control support and advice to all businesses and functions across Airbus in the South Asia region.
Engaging with businesses and functions to develop and implement an effective export licensing strategy, working with Group and Divisional Export Control teams on licensing matters.
Helping to implement the Airbus Export Control Program by providing practical advice and guidance on program elements, including policies, procedures, employee training, and risk assessments.
Ensuring compliance with local, European, UK, and US export control regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and other relevant sanctions.
Identify and support investigations into potential breaches of export control regulations as needed.
Proactively assisting the business in de-risking export control issues, particularly through contract and business reviews.
Guiding on process, policy classification, licensing topics and liaising with regulators as needed
Supporting and animating the local network of Export Control focal points.
Working closely with the India Legal and Compliance team and the global export control teams.
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of legal and/or regulatory experience.
8-10 years of experience with export control regulations, including ITAR and EAR, specifically in a multinational environment advising on trade compliance, export control matters, and licensing.
Strong communication and leadership skills with sound business judgment.
Excellent writing skills for creating and editing policies, procedures, reports, and memorandums.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, network, and work with diverse teams.
High degree of initiative, credibility, independence, integrity, and confidentiality.
Critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills with a strong business acumen.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay highly organized and delivery-oriented.
Proficiency in English is required.
