Key Areas of Responsibilities
General
- Assist in overseeing and managing all areas of the restaurant and make the necessary, real-time decisions to ensure the delivery of an excellent dining experience for our guests and the overall successful operation of the restaurant. Ensure there is a safe and productive work environment for staff members.

Personnel
- Produce and develop a work environment that focuses on staff members’ safety in both their tasks and overall wellbeing.
- Manage and develop all staff members to ensure executional and procedural standards are met.
- Retain the most valuable component of our organization, your team.
- Develop and mentor staff members by providing ongoing and daily feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting regular performance reviews.
- Assist in maintaining an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs
Guest Service and Hospitality
- Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Assess and respond to complaints and suggestions, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into raving fans.
Food Safety and Planning
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.
- Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
- Ensure staff members consistently produce a high quality of food preparation and service.
- Maintain a professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper attire, and appearance standards.
- Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste. Works closely with Kitchen Supervisor team to oversee and ensure the team are adhering to company standards.
- Estimate food needs, ensure orders are placed accurately with vendors, and ensure the deliveries of fresh food and supplies are on schedule.
Financial
- Ensure staff members adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.
- With the support of the Assistant General Manager and General Manager, work with management team to meet and/or exceed the targeted financial and metrical goals.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- 2+ years of previous work experience in a high-volume quick service restaurant
- Proficient in the following restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, and restaurant safety
- Passionate about food and hospitality
- Basic computer knowledge
- Possess basic math skills and have the ability to work a cash register or POS system
- Humility: Is willing to learn from all team members around them and seeks to understand their team, concept and brand
- Empathy: Can effectively build relationships with their team and guest to continue to build our Brand identity through the community
- Passionate about food and hospitality.
- Must enjoy and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Must pass Food Handlers course and test in compliance with CA state law requirements
- Must be able to transfer to another California Chicken Café location within a 50-mile radius
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Physical Requirements
- Perform duties that require standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, twisting, climbing, lifting/carrying (up to 25 lbs. individually), constant gripping/grasping, and moving throughout the restaurant for 8-10 hours per shift, up to 6 shifts per week, occasional sitting, 1-4hrs/day.
Work Conditions/Hours
- Hours will vary in accordance with business necessity, including early morning, late evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, steam, and smoke.
- Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment typical of a restaurant kitchen as well as work with phones, computers, and other office equipment.
- There is no off-the-clock work. There may be occasions when a Shift Leader receives off-schedule call/text that will require them to respond in a timely manner. It is required that all such work be reported to Human Resources (HR) and should include the date, time and reason for the off-schedule work.
