TITLE: Outreach Specialist 

REPORTS TO: TBD 

LOCATION: Cornerstone Village – Pittsburgh PA

TIME: 20HRS PER WEEK

JOB SUMMARY:  

Urban Strategies is seeking an Outreach Specialist to connect with and engage a targeted group of residents in a specific community – Cornerstone Village. The Outreach Specialist will be acting as both a resident services coordinator and a community organizer. The Outreach Specialist will be responsible for sharing information with residents about resources, community-wide events and activities, and public and resident meetings. The Outreach Specialist will also provide individualized assistance to residents to help prevent housing instability, including conducting home visits. Additionally, the Outreach Specialist collaborates with residents, property management, and local services providers to create strategies that address community issues.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

  • Manage social media and create marketing communications for internal and external partners
  • Distribute flyers, newsletters, mailings, and emails, and complete cold calling, door knocking, and tabling to increase engagement and visibility throughout the community.  
  • Conduct home visits and schedule appointments at the office to work directly with residents on interventions, assessments, IDPs, FDPs, service connections, and quarterly check-ins.
  • Commit to strengths-based, family-focused service planning and a place-based approach.
  • Identify resident’s needs and locate community resources.
  • Maintain records of resident needs, progress, and outcomes.
  • Document resident interactions and onsite programming in LEARN.
  • Develop partnerships with organizations to address community needs (e.g., after school programs, health fairs, job training).
  • Coordinate relevant programs addressing community needs.
  • Maintain relationships with community stakeholders and service organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Associate degree or equivalent education/experience required.
  • 2 years of nonprofit or human services experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and an automobile for work use.
  • Ability to handle privileged information in a professional and confidential manner.
  • The ability to work independently and with initiative, combined with skills for thriving in a team environment, both internally and externally, to achieve shared goals.
  • Availability to attend evening and weekend functions as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Must excel in a fast-paced environment in a variety of settings with culturally diverse persons and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Advanced MS Excel), other commonly used software.
