We are seeking a driven and relationship-oriented Account Executive to join our Licensing & Business Development team. This role will focus on managing and expanding partnerships with leading partners like (Barnes & Noble, CLC, LidsU, Fanatics, Follett, etc) while developing strong relationships with colleges/universities, and their licensing departments. The Account Executive will be responsible for driving licensing revenue growth, securing new accounts, managing product assortments and designs that support buyer and customer feedback, and ensuring the brand is represented well in all markets. Additionally, this AE will manage current and new relationships in the music festival space- executing on site activations, preparing assortments, and working directly with musicians on their product requests.
What you’ll do:
Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of college/university clients and musicians/festivals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for our decoration partner by managing all communication related to purchase orders, mechanicals, packaging and delivery dates.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with athletic directors, marketing managers, bookstore buyers, licensing departments, and retail partners.
- Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring client needs are understood and met
Account Growth & Sales Strategy
- Identify and execute opportunities to increase licensing revenue within existing accounts and new business
- Drive upselling and cross-selling opportunities across product categories.
- Ensure client engagement through consistent communication and performance reviews.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
- Present and sell in product assortments to retail buyers
- Work directly with product and planning teams to identify blank assortments and commitments bi-annually
- Deliver compelling, tailored presentations to university partners and prospective clients.
Business Development
- Prospect, qualify, and secure new college and university licensing partnerships while considering wholesale distribution as well as growing the DTC business with licensed product
- Build a strong pipeline of potential clients through research, outreach, and networking.
- Leverage industry relationships to open new growth opportunities.
- Support brand awareness in this space through tradeshows, activations and pop-ups
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and consumer purchasing behavior.
- Use insights to refine sales strategies and identify new business and product strategy
Negotiation & Contracts
- Lead negotiations for new and renewal licensing agreements, pricing, and terms.
Reporting
- Prepare regular reports on sales performance, account status, and revenue pipeline
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on account activity and business opportunities
- Provide weekly updates on production status and purchase order flows
Event Representation
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and on-campus meetings.
- Network with key stakeholders to strengthen brand presence in the collegiate licensing community.
What you’ll have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or related field
- 3+ years of sales, licensing, or account management experience (collegiate or sports industry preferred)
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and retail buyers
- Knowledge of collegiate licensing or consumer products industry a plus
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, events, and conferences
- Highly collaborative with a hands-on, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
We aim to pay competitively for our size and industry. The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000 USD, but we will consider location, skill level and experience to determine the final offer.
