Monday through Friday (with occasional weekends as needed)

Department: Blood Services - 442

This position will be for the Blood Services department.

Primary Purpose:

Highly variable scheduled based on the blood drive schedules throughout the week and department needs. Help to monitor and address maintenance of vehicles. Main responsibility would be supporting transportation needs surrounding blood drives within a specific time frame. This could also include setting up blood drives and delivering needed supplies, and helping to process blood units as needed. This position will require a high level of scheduled flexibility.  Though the schedule is highly variable in nature, the schedule should generally be known about 3 weeks ahead.

Essential Functions:

Safely deliver collected blood units from the mobile drives back to the Donor Center, ensuring proper handling.

Help to process blood units as needed. 

Retrieve and deliver supplies to blood drive locations.

Help load and unload equipment and set-up and take-down of the blood drive.

Ensure vehicles are current on maintenance and kept clean. Responsible for taking the vehicles to be maintained.

Follow safety protocols.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Age: Must be 21 years old.

Valid Utah Driver’s License: 1)No moving violations within the previous two years 2) No alcohol/drug-related violations on record with the Driver’s License Division

Ability to pass a physical examination to obtain a Department of Transportation Medical Card
