Communications Intern at Safe Passage Project

Location: New York, NY (hybrid/remote flexibility available)
Commitment: 10-15/hrs per week, Part-time, unpaid (academic credit available)

Are you passionate about storytelling, digital media, and social impact? As a Communications Intern, you’ll play a key role in helping us share powerful stories, manage our content calendar, and support digital campaigns that engage a growing community of supporters. This internship offers the chance to build hands-on experience in nonprofit communications while shaping how thousands of people connect with our mission.

What You’ll Do

• Draft engaging posts, captions, and copy tailored for different audiences
• Research trends, hashtags, and best practices to strengthen reach and engagement
• Collaborate with the Communications Director to bring campaigns to life

What We’re Looking For

• Current student or recent graduate in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field
• Strong writing and editing skills, with an eye for clear and compelling messaging
• Familiarity with social media platforms and content scheduling tools 
• Passion for digital storytelling, social justice, and creative communication
• Self-starter who can manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and learn independently
• Entrepreneurial spirit and curiosity for how content can inspire and mobilize communities
