Position Description

Job Title:  Adjunct Faculty 

Department: Social Work Department           

Reports To:  Rose Wong, Department Chair     

Location: Palo Alto Campus, remote, in person, or hybrid                     

Employment Status: Part-time

Date:  Ongoing as needed to meet Social Work Department demands

Salary Range: $1,667.00 To $20,000.00 Annually

Summary

The PAU Department of Social Work is excited to search for an Adjunct Faculty to support our Master of Social Work program with a specialization in Culturally Responsive Behavioral Health Care and two tracks, Children and Youth (including a focus in school social work) and Practice in Public Behavioral Health Settings (with a focus on adults/older adults).

The selected candidate will be required to demonstrate teaching experiences that contribute to the specialization and track areas, potentially including teaching and supervision experiences in clinical practice courses (field internship) based on the courses contracted to teach. The selected candidate will also need to demonstrate the ability to enhance the MSW program mission, which includes integrating advocacy, social justice, cultural competence, and ethical practice into the preparation of social work professionals. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teaching 
    1. Teach agreed upon units  
    2. Teach virtual synchronous courses and/or in-person courses as assigned (e.g., weekly courses via zoom and intensive residencies on campus or at a community venue)
    3. Meet with students outside of class as needed for support
  2. Adjunct faculty are expected to attend quarterly meetings.
  3. Adjunct faculty are expected to attend course lead orientation meetings.
  4. Other duties as assigned (including adhering to course structure and teaching expectations of program and course lead)

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of social work degree from a CSWE-accredited program and a minimum of two years of post-MSW social work practice experience;
  • License or license eligible as an LCSW;
  • Potential for excellence in teaching in virtual synchronized and residential formats;
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with students both face-to-face, and connecting online through email, video conferencing, and chat;
  • Evidence of inclusive excellence, as well as training and experience with diverse population groups;
