Role Summary

The Clinical Pathology Technician I will engage in pre-analytical sample processing, maintaining inventory, data collection, and review while supporting the larger Clinical Pathology team in completing studies in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Basic sample processing for blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid in accordance with SOPs and/or Sponsor requirements.
  • Sample container labeling in accordance with SOPs and/or Sponsor requirements.
  • Short and long-term sample storage.
  • Verification of sample accountabilities and manifests.
  • Study protocol review.
  • Collect and record data, both on paper and electronically in a laboratory management system, in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Assist with supply inventory and expiration tracking.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Role Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 6 months laboratory or sample processing in a GLP facility preferred.

Special Requirements

  • This role works predominantly in a laboratory. There will be exposure to potentially infectious materials and chemicals.
  • Ability to don and wear personal protective gear for extended periods of time, including N95 masks and respirators.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.  
  • Flexibility to work beyond typical work schedule including evenings, weekends, and extended shifts with short notice on an as-needed basis.
