Overview:
INTECON, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer Scientist (PES) to provide advanced technical leadership supporting the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) under the ASTRA program. The PES will lead complex R&D, systems engineering, and modeling efforts at the program and project level, integrating technical expertise to deliver innovative solutions to mission-critical challenges.
This position requires the ability to design, develop, and implement advanced projects, synthesize diverse technical concepts into actionable approaches, and serve as a project leader directing technical teams. The PES will play a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality technical execution while supporting the government’s intelligence and defense objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead highly complex technical and theoretical advising in NASIC’s mission areas.
- Design, develop, and implement advanced R&D projects, systems engineering efforts, and Modeling & Simulation (M&S) programs.
- Integrates concepts/data from multiple areas to solve mission-critical challenges.
- Provide technical direction on intelligence analysis, sensors, and weapon systems exploitation.
- Support M&S programs, systems analysis, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Develop and present technical reports, proposals, white papers, and executive-level briefings to senior Government stakeholders.
- Collaborate with DoD, Intelligence Community (IC), and industry partners to deliver innovative technical solutions aligned with mission objectives.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, including security, reporting, and data deliverables.
Clearance Requirements:
- Active Top Secret/SCI at time of hire; must be able to maintain TS/SCI eligibility and comply with polygraph if required.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in a relevant engineering, scientific, or technical field.
- Equivalent substitutions (20 years of experience; Bachelor’s degree + 16 years; Master’s + 12 years) may be considered.
- At least 10 years with DoD or IC programs.
- Proven leadership of R&D, systems engineering, or intelligence technical projects.
- Proficiency with engineering and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, MBSE software, modeling/simulation frameworks).
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills (reports, proposals, briefings).
- Proven ability to integrate concepts and data to solve problems.
- Design, develop, and implement R&D or technical projects.
- Direct the work of other staff on projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and interface with senior Government officials.
