The City of Folsom's Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting for two (2) part-time, temporary Facilities Aides to support the Community & Cultural Services Division.

Under direct supervision of the Senior Recreation Coordinator, this part-time position is responsible for assisting with various City facilities, maintaining excellent customer service with the public, and providing general support to the Senior Recreation Coordinator. 

Schedule
  • Days can vary as hours of operations are seven (7)  days a week between the hours of 5:00am to 2:00am.
  • Hours are generally 20 hours per week, but can vary.
  • Duration: position is ongoing as long as needed and supported by the budget. 
Pay & Benefits
  • Non-exempt, hourly rate. $17.50 - $21.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. 
  • Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.

Position Duties

Note: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties. Each individual does not necessarily perform all the duties listed.

  • Restroom cleaning
  • Litter pick-up, vandalism/graffiti abatement
  • Minor facility maintenance and repairs (i.e., changing a lock, painting, unclogging drains).
  • Event set-up and clean-up, outdoors and parking lot clean-up.
  • Washing city facilities and grounds. 
  • Operating small equipment (electric floor scrubbing machines).
  • Repairing irrigation systems.
  • Restoring/constructing furniture and equipment.
  • Operate complex AV equipment.
  • Give tours of facilities to potential renters and answer any questions. 
  • Use power tools.
  • Trouble-shooting facility repair needs.
  • Identify and problem-solve customer conflicts.
  • Work independently during late night and weekend shifts (many times past midnight).
  • Trouble-shoot situations and higher-complex issues, some in which a supervisor may not be readily available.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


Note: The following knowledge and abilities relate to duties listed under the "Examples of Essential Duties" section.

Knowledge of:

  • Basic knowledge of maintenance and facility maintenance.
  • English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Safety practices and principles of maintenance tools and machinery.
  • Customer service principles and practices.

 Ability to:
  • Willing to work independently, weekends, and outdoors in ALL weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
  • Understand and perform field maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrate enthusiastic, positive energy. 
  • Communicate well orally and in writing
  • Be organized, self-motivated, prioritize and pace duties and tasks.
  • Follow oral and written directions.
  • Establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with coworkers and the public.
  • Work collaboratively on a team and provide a safe and judgement-free atmosphere.

Other Qualifications


Education: 
High school diploma, G.E.D. or work permit. Some college education is preferred.
 
Qualifications:
 
At least 17 years of age, with the ability to obtain a work permit if still in High School or under the age of 18.

License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification preferred but not required. 
  • California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a typical indoor environment on a year-round basis. (1) Mobility: frequent performance of heavy manual labor, frequent standing, walking, or driving; frequent climbing, reaching, bending, stooping, crawling, and squatting. (2) Lifting: frequent lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds. (3) Vision: constant use of overall vision. (4) Dexterity: frequent grasping, holding, reaching,
