Job Description Special Education Due Process Facilitator Conway Public School District
Qualifications:
Valid Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education teacher license
Experience providing Special Education services in a public school setting
Reports to: Special education administrators and building principals
Supervises: Not applicable
Terms of Employment: The contract length will be 195 days. The salary schedule will be A&J.
Evaluation: Based on local District policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the building-level administrator in cooperation with a special education administrator.
Job Goal: The Special Education Designee will endeavor to ensure that the Special Education process in the assigned building is carried out appropriately, and will work cooperatively with administration, students, parents, teachers, counselors, and all other persons involved in the provision of services for students being considered for and those receiving Special Education services.
Performance Responsibilities:
Follows and maintains knowledge of all district policies and procedures.
Coordinates and schedules conferences and staffings; notifies attendees of conferences; completes or assists with the completion of necessary due process paperwork for Special Education conferences (referral, re-evaluation, transfer, and preschool transition conferences)
Assists in obtaining records and or medical information.
Attends and chairs Special Education conferences.
Ensures that copies of due process paperwork are disseminated appropriately.
Assists in the maintenance of individual Special Education records and files.
Facilitates the dissemination of modifications and works with teachers to ensure understanding of modifications.
Monitors annual review and Individual Education Plan paperwork and serves as a due process mentor for teachers.
Assists with procuring teachers for homebound students and monitors to ensure that Special Education conferences are held every ninety (90) days to review placement.
Assists with dissemination of information from principal and Central Office, Special Education administrators, and staff to building-level staff.
Ensures that standardized testing accommodations are provided to counselors, as appropriate.
Coordinates the transfer of incoming student Individual Education Plan files between schools and ensures that specific/critical information about students is shared with appropriate staff.
Serves as a liaison, team leader, and support for all staff.
