Ulysses USD 214 is seeking a dedicated and skilled Computer Technician to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all computer hardware, software, and network systems across the district. This role is crucial in ensuring our students and staff have reliable access to technology for educational and administrative purposes.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals (e.g., printers, scanners).
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to computers, networks, and other technological equipment.
Provide technical support to students, teachers, and administrative staff, addressing a wide range of inquiries and problems.
Perform routine maintenance and updates on systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
Manage user accounts and access rights on the network.
Assist with the setup and teardown of technology for special events, presentations, and testing.
Maintain inventory of all technology equipment and software licenses.
Collaborate with other IT staff to implement new technologies and improve existing systems.
Document all support activities, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
Stay updated on new technology trends and advancements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
Proven experience as a computer technician or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS), and common software applications.
Familiarity with network protocols and basic network troubleshooting.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Patience and a customer-service mindset when assisting non-technical users.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are a plus.
Working Conditions
The position requires a flexible schedule, with occasional after-hours or weekend work for system maintenance or emergencies.
Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
The work environment is primarily indoors within various school buildings and offices.
