POSITION SUMMARY: A Product Development Engineer acts as team leader for smaller projects or as a team member for portions of more difficult and complex projects. Performs work that leads to new product processes or systems with technical differentiation and significant business contributions. Designs, collects, analyzes, and reports on experimental studies and/or new technologies. Shows independent creativity and initiative for new business or organizational contributions. Contributes significantly to discussions and decisions on overall project objectives with managers and other functional areas. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Focuses on coordinating and leading all or most activities on comprehensive and technically challenging projects/assignments.Fully develops multiple concepts related to satisfying a customer need, and supports all viable solutions to arrive at an optimal solution for customers and the corporation while partnering internally and externally to commercialize.Develops and presents reports summarizing technical analysis and business case to peer group and management audiences.Effectively communicates with all levels of internal and external customers and staff.Analyzes and recommends engineering or design solutions for product, process, design, or other technical challenges.Capable of leading cross-functional teams having broader, less-defined initial objective and scope.Understands concepts of corporate identity and business needs as applied to projects/assignments.MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS: Completed 4 year degree in Engineering or Physics based programStrong aptitude in process improvement, problem solving, technical execution and project managementExperienced knowledge of lean, manufacturing, design, and quality systems3-5 years engineering or technical experience NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:Experience as design or project lead of a cross functional engineering team2D and 3D CAD experience with AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent softwareExperience working through a gated design review processStrong understanding of GD&T, drawing, and quality standardsDemonstrated ability with dimensional engineering and tolerance/variation analysisExperience designing and developing new parts using injection molding, extrusion, machining, or die cast processesEffective technical presentation and communication skills COMPENSATION: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $88,235 - $136,765.
