Job Title: Assistant Director of Campus Safety
Reports to: Director of Campus Safety
Terms and Conditions: 12-month position, Monday-Friday 1:30 P.M. – 10:00 P.M. Must be available for off-scheduled events as necessary
Salary: $75,000 - $100,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills in communicating with students, staff, parents, community members, first responders, administrators, supervisors, and other members of the security team.
Ability to maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with supervisor, administrators, and any other contacts associated with the position.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Law enforcement, Security, or Emergency Management classes and training preferred.
Ability to maintain composure in volatile stations.
Experience working with adolescents.
Ability to deescalate the level or intensity of a difficult or dangerous situation.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job – walking, running quickly, standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs quickly, sitting, carrying, reaching, talking, hearing, visual sight near and far.
Experience in or a willingness to learn the tenets of trauma informed practices, social and restorative justice practices.
National Incident Management System.Incident Command System (NIMS/ICS), CPR, and AED certified.
Training in the Standard Response Protocol/Standard Reunification Method.

Job Duties:

Supervise and monitor Safety and Support staff.
Work with the Operations Team, Athletics and Student Activities to develop staffing plans for after school events.
Schedule and assign staff as appropriate for daily and special events.
Manage external security and crossing guard contracts.
Maintain Campus Safety vehicles, radios, and tablets.
Approve time for direct reports.
Approve overtime as needed.
Work as a collaborative team member with the Director of Campus Safety, Campus Safety Supervisor, Principal, staff, parents and community resource agencies to meet all safety requirements of the Illinois Board of Education.
Work with the Director of Campus Safety and Deans to maintain student discipline in the building, on school grounds, at school events, and on buses to ensure a positive, safe learning environment.
Provide feedback to the Director of Campus Safety and help evaluate all safety and support staff on an annual basis.
Work with the Director of Campus Safety to provide goals for safety and support personnel.
Work with the Director of Campus Safety to provide training for all Safety and Support Staff in non-violent conflict resolution and customer service.
Supervise student dismissal.
Other duties as assigned
