Responsible for developing and implementing technical solutions that meet the business requirements of the organization. Design system architectures, creating technical specifications, and oversee the implementation of these solutions. Works closely with various stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers, and developers, to ensure that technical solutions are aligned with business goals and meet the needs of end-users. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.
Essential Functions
Design and maintain the software architecture for the school district to include defining the software components, interfaces, and protocols required to meet the district's business needs.
Work closely with various stakeholders, including school administrators, teachers, and Information Technology (IT) staff, to understand their business needs and technical requirements. Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Design and develop software applications that meet the district's business needs. Develop technical specifications, creating software prototypes, and oversee the implementation of these applications.
Evaluate different software technologies and select the most appropriate ones for each project. Must be knowledgeable about the latest trends and technologies in the software industry.
Ensure that the software applications are of high quality and are maintainable over time to include designing software that is easy to modify and debug and establishing coding standards and best practices.
Design and maintain the data warehouse for the school district to include defining the data models, designing the Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, and implementing the data warehouse using appropriate technologies.
Ensure the quality and integrity of the data stored in the data warehouse to include designing appropriate data validation, cleansing processes and establishing data governance and stewardship practices.
Work closely with the Software Engineer Manager and the Business Intelligence Engineer to understand their data requirements to design appropriate data structures and processes to support their analysis and reporting needs.
Evaluate different data warehousing technologies and select the most appropriate ones for the district's needs. Must be knowledgeable about the latest trends and technologies in data warehousing and business intelligence.
Ensure that the data warehouse is scalable and performs well, even as the amount of data stored in it grows over time to include designing appropriate data partitioning and indexing strategies, optimizing queries and data access patterns.
Provide guidance and support to other technical team members, developers, engineers, and end-users.
Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field and six (6) years of experience software development, software architecture. Experience working with data warehousing and business intelligence technologies preferred. Strong technical skills in software development, database design, and Microsoft Visual Studio technologies to include ASP.NET, ADO.Net, C#. Familiarity with data warehousing and business intelligence technologies, such as ETL tools, data modeling tools, and reporting tools. Strong communication skills and be able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate effectively with other technical teams and stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and be able to analyze complex technical issues and design solutions that meet the business needs of the district.
Maintain emotional control under stress; ability to work with frequent interruptions; prolonged use of computers and occasional prolonged and irregular hours; occasional district-wide travel. Valid Texas/New Mexico driver’s license; subject to the district’s drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.
