Under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer and site administration, provide basic, ongoing, first-level, technical support to teachers and other staff in the use of technology. Technicians will be responsible for complying with GUSD IT standards and directives for the work to be accomplished at their respective school sites. Technicians also perform a variety of technical duties involved in the operation, maintenance, modification, and repair of District technology at an assigned school site(s); troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform general maintenance and repairs to school computers, peripherals, and wireless network equipment; support staff and students in their use of District technology; assist with data tracking for instructional technology. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Chief Technology Officer with input from site administration.

- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time depending on task.

Education and Experience:
- Any combination equivalent to: an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and concurrent experience in computer, technical, or instruction support. Additional experience may substitute for post-secondary education.
Licenses and other Requirements:
- Valid California Driver’s License
- May require a valid First Aid/CPR certification within one (1) year of hire.
Work Environment:
- High volume office environment.

Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Computer workstations, including the relationship and usage of various input and output components, business and education support software, and terminology.
- Protocols and procedures for setting up new equipment, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance including but not limited to, TCP/IP, subnet masking, serial, Ethernet, and access lists.
- Computer based local area networks, network operations, and connectivity between servers.
- Human relation skills to conduct one-on-one instruction and technical assistance and give demonstrations on the use and application of common desktop applications used for administrative and education purposes.
- Writing skills to document technical procedures.
Ability to:
- Set up, install, configure, and maintain workstations and peripheral equipment.
- Perform basic diagnosis and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software, including operating systems and instructional software packages/applications.
- Work independently and collaboratively.
- Provide ongoing user support, interpret technical manuals, and train end users.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with and deliver one-on-one instruction/tutoring to students and staff members.
- Organize and maintain accurate records and conduct demonstrations and training.
- Relate to diverse abilities and backgrounds of students.
Salary Info
Placement may be made up through the third step based on experience according to merit system rules.
