The Value Engineer plays a pivotal role in BMO’s Applied AI transformation by designing and enabling agentic workflows that deliver measurable business outcomes. Embedded within the Value Engineering Pod, this role collaborates across product, infrastructure, model safety, and data teams to operationalize AI capabilities in customer and product journeys.

Key Responsibilities

Agent-Enabled Workflow Design
Architect and implement intelligent workflows that integrate AI agents into business processes, aligning with user roles and service standards.

Solution Enablement
Contribute to the design and deployment of federated and integrated service architectures, ensuring seamless orchestration across pods and platforms.

Cross-Pod Collaboration
Partner with teams in Model Safety, Infrastructure, Data, and Product to ensure cohesive delivery of AI solutions.

Strategic Impact
Drive improvements in operational efficiency, personalization, and automation to enhance return on equity (ROE) and customer experience.

Documentation & Communication
Maintain clear documentation of workflows, integration points, and success metrics. Communicate effectively with stakeholders across Lines of Business (LoBs).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. MBA preferred, awareness/knowledge of technical AI products is valued
  • 5+ years of experience in service design, process engineering, or backend/data engineering.
  • An awareness or experience working with technical roles, CIO operations.  (bonus)
  • Familiarity with hybrid environments (cloud/on-prem) and federated systems.
  • SME with various LOBs including tools, platforms, data, and technologies related to them. 
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with agentic systems and intelligent orchestration.
  • Knowledge of BMO’s EAIS (Enterprise AI Services) framework.
  • Familiarity with strategic workforce planning and job architecture alignment.
  • Experience engaging with the LOB’s in order to prioritize use cases, determine the user stories (persona, role, task), handle onboarding to ARC products, identify and measure value of product usage, they plan and monitor value streams (e.g., if LOB X wants something, how do we measure the value and ensure that we continue to determine how much value the product is driving). 
  • Communicate the various technical products and aspects of them, though mastery is not required
  • Some tech experience (broadly defined), MBA is preferred

$122,400.00 - $228,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
