It is a world-leading provider of OTC market data, offering unbiased data products that facilitate trading, enhance transparency, reduce risk and improve operational efficiency. Rigorous quality assurance processes ensure the integrity and robustness of our products, which include pricing, reference data and analytical tools for major asset classes and markets.

Our offering includes real-time price information from the major OTC financial and commodity markets delivering high quality independent data in a number of asset classes including Rates, FX and Money Markets, Volatility, Oil, Energy, Inflation, Credit and Equities. 

Parameta Solutions strategy focuses on three pillars. First, it is enhancing its distribution, with 78% of the division’s 2024 revenue originating from third-party channels, and an increasing proportion (22%) being generated from direct channels, such as the cloud. Second, Parameta is offering more innovative products, including evidential data solutions and benchmarks and indices. Finally, the business is expanding its buy-side client base.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Commercial and Data Counsel to provide dedicated support to the Parameta Solutions business across global markets. The role involves providing strategic and legal support on a range of legal matters related to market data and commercial contracts within a dynamic financial services environment. The position requires collaboration with senior management and cross-regional teams to align legal strategies with business objectives. Whilst working closely with the Parameta Solutions business, you will be part of the wider EMEA legal team. This role will have line management responsibilities for one other Counsel.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead lawyer for the Parameta Solutions business working closely with Parameta Solutions senior management across EMEA, AMERICAS and APAC.

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating Master Data Services, and other market data agreements across the Parameta Solutions client base.

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating trading and onboarding documentation for SaaS and other non-data type solutions such as Post Trade Solutions.

• Advising on rule book drafting in conjunction with group Compliance.

• Working with and advising senior management on commercial projects and strategic initiatives on our commercial offering from a legal perspective .

• Collaborating with the commercial teams —understanding business objectives, coaching stakeholders toward optimal outcomes, and consistently balancing commercial ambition with legal risk and the company’s strategic priorities.

• Partnering with commercial, operations and sales teams to design and support optimised processes and procedures for sales and contracts management.

• Managing, drafting and assisting the business with all other commercial contracts, including customer documentation, licensing, technology procurement, support and non-disclosure agreements including with internal stakeholders and external third parties.

• Providing general legal and commercial advice, including  regulatory issues.

• Reviewing and approving all Parameta Solutions public facing marketing collateral to ensure legal and reputational integrity.

• Liaising with business and support divisions of TP ICAP and Parameta Solutions,

• Partnering with the broader TP ICAP in-house legal teams in EMEA, Americas and APAC on Parameta Solutions legal matters.

• Engaging and managing (including costs) external counsel in conjunction with management and the TP ICAP legal team.

• Management responsibilities for one other Counsel.

Experience / Competences

Essential

• Extensive post qualification experience working in a City law firm or in-house specialising in either corporate and/or commercial agreements preferably in a market data environment;

• Proven experience negotiating complex commercial contracts with market data or corporate transactions within the financial services sector;

• Ability to translate complex legal issues into strategic business initiatives and practical solutions;

• Experience in contributing to managing legal aspects of cross-functional and large-scale projects;

• Ability to work with senior stakeholders to influence, design and implement corporate  vision and strategies in line with legal risk appetite;

• Motivated self- starter, pro-active and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

• Exceptional attention to detail with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

• Collaborative team player who thrives in a small, dynamic legal team. ,;Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships and inspire confidence in business and functional stakeholders at the senior management level;

• Proven ability to design and implement efficient legal processes to support rapid business scaling, ideally in a high-growth or transformation environment;

• Management experience with an ability to train, develop, support and motivate a team;

• University level degree

• Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales (or equivalent)
