Position: Host/Cashier
Department: Various
Job Summary: Performs host and cashier duties in support of a restaurant or retail store.
Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):
- Assures accuracy of sales data and cash handling, including balancing of assigned bank.
 - Processes credit card and cash transactions.
 - Redeems scripts, vouchers, coupons and receipts for service and/or products.
 - Identifies and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
 - Generates sales volume in a courteous and timely manner.
 - Controls point of sale inventory.
 - Performs accurate and thorough departmental records and reports as assigned.
 - Greets guests and determines the number in their party.
 - Seats guests by finding a clean, available table, pulling out chairs, and placing a clean, current menu in front of them.
 - Guides guests through the dining room or retail store and provides any needed assistance.
 - Assists Food Servers, if necessary.
 - Ensures place settings are appropriate and each guest has a napkin, clean silverware, and any other item that is part of the standard place setting.
 - Checks menus to ensure they are current, clean, and plentiful.
 - Maintains cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.
 - Follows all safety and security policies and procedures, including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor.
 - Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
 - Fosters a team environment by working collaboratively with co-workers.
 - Displays initiative and ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
 - Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of cash register, calculator, Micros point-of-sale system, and currency transactions.
 - Organizational and time management skills.
 - Good communication skills.
 - Skill in working courteously with guests as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
 - Ability to accurately handle and count money as well as make change.
 - Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.
 - Ability to perform basic mathematical computations pertaining to the position.
 - Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 - Ability to read and write legibly.
 - Ability to maintain confidentiality.
 - Ability to work in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment.
 - Ability to lift forty (40) pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
 - Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
 - Ability to adapt well to an environment that involves large numbers of guests as well as loud and continuous high noise levels.
 - Ability to work in a smoking environment.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must either possess or obtain valid Food Handler’s and Alcohol Awareness cards within three (3) months of employment.
 - Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
 - Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
 - Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
 - Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid gaming license.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six (6) months money handling experience in a guest service position.
 - ServSafe certification
 - Bilingual (English/Spanish
