I. Position Title
Information Technology Analyst III (Lead)
II. Position Description
Under general supervision, assists in the coordination of District-wide technology projects and systems engineering; plans, organizes, oversees and supervises the installation, repair, and maintenance of a variety of networking and technology systems throughout the District; assigns and oversees the work of assigned workers; acts as a working lead person; supervises server and network systems; assists with outside vendors hired to perform network and computer related projects; provides technical input toward the development of policy and standards related to technology use; and recommends hardware and software for standardization.
This position is assigned a working lead role over technical systems and must be able to assist in the training of assigned workers. Positions in this class provide technical support and advanced training in the use of the full range of network systems and equipment. Incumbents are capable of working independently with minimal supervision and are assigned to coordinate network support activities and projects; researches and recommends network equipment;
Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology and Information Services, duties assigned to this class may be generally divided into following areas:
- Maintains and services district-wide network, computer, and technology-related systems and software;
- Assists in the coordination of District-wide and/or Enterprise-wide technology projects and system engineering;
- Exercise initiative, ingenuity, independent analysis, and judgment in solving complex network installation and support problems;
- Regularly interact with management, technical support, development support and Client Support;
- Assists in overseeing the direction and workload of assigned technology personnel, outside technical support vendors and their projects; and
- Provides technical input to assist site administration with the development and implementation of technology plans.
III. Example of Duties/Responsibilities
- Assists with the set-up and maintenance of District-wide technology systems and software, digital classroom systems, computers, networking and wireless systems, and server-related equipment (E)
- Assigns, supervises, and inspects the work of assigned technology personnel engaged in technology support in compliance with instructions and meets appropriate quality standards (E)
- Assists in the assessment, prioritization and delegation of work requests (E)
- Assists in the assessment of future network growth plus demands
- Co-coordinates with outside contractors, and administration during new or remodeling construction to verify work schedules, resizing, and future needs (E)
- Supervises and performs skilled duties in the installation and repair of computer systems, peripherals, and networking equipment (E)
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots hardware and related software problems (E)
- Tests and evaluates new equipment and systems for possible District use
- Assists in development of networking and technology use policies (E)
- Performs the regular duties of an Information Technology Analyst as described in the Information Technology Analyst I and Information Technology II job descriptions (E)
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the classification.

IV. Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Server Administration, operating systems, wireless networks, technology systems, network principles and network management
- Troubleshooting network and network related problems
- TCP/IP and IPX
- Methods and procedures used in repairing and servicing technology systems including mobile devices, computers, computer peripherals
Ability to:
- Utilize appropriate software and equipment to monitor computer networks
- Read and interpret technical specifications
- Work accurately and rapidly on intricate mechanisms
- Schedule and meet deadlines with a minimum of technical assistance
- Accurately estimate labor and materials costs of repair and construction work
- Read and interpret building, blueprints, working drawings, and sketches
- Work directly with staff and non-technical personnel to set up networks
- Work cooperatively with system users
Education and Experience
- Equivalent to a high school diploma
- Advanced training and/or experience with computer hardware and mobile devices
- Advanced training and/or experience with computer software
- Experience overseeing/coordinating enterprise-wide technology projects and technology systems, including coordinating the work of others.
- Six (6) years’ experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of computers, computer peripherals, servers, hubs, work stations, routers, switches plus cable, and mobile devices.
License
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and maintain possession of such license during the course of employment.
