This position can be based out of any of the Maxim Crane Works Southeast Branch offices

 

 

Purpose

 

The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for all safety practices and trainings within their designated region. By working with the RVP and the VP of Safety, they ensure that all Safety Representatives and Safety Contacts have all of the training and resources needed to effectively carry out safety standards at their locations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide all levels of management with assistance and technical advice needed for proper administration of the Safety Program
  • Prevents potential accidents by investigating accidents; identifying causes of accidents and hazards; developing preventive measures and practices; conferring with insurance carriers; managing safety committee; preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Periodically walk through the branches within designated region and/or job sites to observe unsafe conditions and work practices
  • Recommend disciplinary procedures for violators of safety rules
  • Develop safety education and training programs and coordinate the implementation of the programs in the field
  • Review all accident investigation and near miss reports for the region
  • Advise company personnel of changes in applicable safety regulations
  • Complete monthly field compliance review form with RVP and/or Branch Managers
  • Conduct incident/accident investigations utilizing appropriate reporting forms and accurately input data into database
  • Provide safety oversight for high risk jobs
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

 

Education:

  • BS/BA in Safety Management or similar field preferred
  • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Completion of OSHA 10hr and 30hr course

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Safety Representative or similar role
  • 1+ years’ experience working with reporting

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of legislations and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Advanced knowledge of safety management information system
  • Advanced communication and organizational skills
  • Moderate knowledge in writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Moderate familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics

Language Skills:

Must be able to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger; handle or feel; and kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear; push and/or pull; reach; climb; bend and/or stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee spends most of their time in external conditions, which may include temperature variance, elevated noise levels, dust, and fumes. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
