Refractory Service, Inc. (RSI) is a specialized contractor that provides custom and complete refractory solutions. Customers include commercial boilers, power or ethanol plants, foundries, steel mills, heat treaters, refineries, and others who require heat-resistant materials for high temperature processes.


Impact of the Role

The project manager oversees all aspects of the construction project management process including coordinating resources, scheduling activities, and planning all elements of the construction, while on location, working under limited supervision. A project manager ensures projects are effectively executed within budgets, time schedules, and the appropriate contract language, to ensure positive cash flow. This exempt role ensures all work is performed efficiently and safely in accordance with specifications and regulations.

 

What the Role Does

  1. Oversee and coordinate all project aspects of varying levels of complexity.
  2. Prepare and manage the project installation plan; prepare and implement job procedures.
  3. Effectively communicate project requirements from the customer to the project team and all other internal stakeholders; communicate regularly with the customer to ensure seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  4. Maintain accurate and updated job status, job change, material flow, and records. Report project progress regularly.
  5. Identify, minimize, and appropriately communicate risks; control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
  6. Oversee and manage procurement of materials, supplies, services, and controls for timely and cost-effective completion.
  7. Establish project milestones and analyzes costs; review actual vs. estimated costs to provide timely and accurate reports; identify causes for low productivity or delays and determine impact on the project; adjust plan and/or cost estimates to meet financial goals.
  8. Manage the full execution, determine scope of work, review terms and conditions in contracts including cost control, delivery fulfillment, service quality, and other customer requirements as they arise.
  9. Oversee change proposals and other related activities, using ProCore and/or other systems.
  10. Document project schedule processes and maintain documentation for internal and external use.
  11. Relocation to customer location during duration of two large projects is required.

 

What You Bring

Knowledge, Education

  • Construction management or project coordination knowledge are required
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, or directly related studies
  • Preferred: Project Management Professional certification

 

Experience

  • 5 years of related project management experience in at least one of the following: refractory, industrial, or commercial construction
  • Combined experience and education will be considered

Physical

  • Will walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders, and move from place to place.
  • Regularly required to talk and listen; frequent sitting and use hands to handle, type, or feel.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are needed.

 

Work Environment/Schedule

  • Job trailer or onsite at customer location for duration of project
  • Minimal travel to vendors or company locations as needed
