Summary Of Role

The primary responsibility of the Enterprise Risk Management, Director is developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s risk management framework to identify, assess, monitor, and report key risks across the enterprise. This individual will support the integration of risk into strategic decision-making, help cultivate a risk-aware culture, and ensure the institution remains resilient and responsive in a rapidly evolving risk landscape.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Risk Officer to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive ERM Program and Risk Governance Framework including, policies, standards, and procedures aligned to the COSO ERM framework, industry best practices, and organizational objectives.

  • Facilitate enterprise-wide risk assessments to identify, assess, and prioritize key risks (strategic, operational, credit, compliance, financial, and emerging risks).

  • Support the development and maintenance of the organization’s risk appetite statement, risk limits, and key risk indicators (KRIs); monitor adherence and escalate breaches appropriately.

  • Prepare regular ERM reporting and dashboards for executive management, business unit leadership, Risk Committees, and the Board of Directors.

  • Promote a strong risk culture throughout the organization by embedding risk awareness into processes, training, and decision-making activities.

  • Coordinate stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of adverse conditions on the organization’s risk profile and strategic objectives.

  • Manage the risk and control library and assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the controls to mitigate risk exposure.

  • Manage the enterprise issue management process including identification, documentation, root cause analysis, remediation tracking and validation testing of non-Internal Audit issues.

  • Manage the model risk management program ensuring timely updates of the model inventory, documentation and validation activities.

  • Deliver risk-related awareness training to all Bank employees.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business units, providing risk insights and supporting strategic and operational initiatives through a risk lens.

  • Assist with internal and external audits, examinations, and regulatory reviews related to enterprise risk management activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

Experience

10+ years of experience in enterprise risk, operational risk, compliance, audit, or a related field within the financial services industry.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, JD, etc.) is a plus.

Relevant professional certifications are preferred (e.g., CERP, CPA, CIA, etc.).

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-dayexperience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.

Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.  Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
